I am currently studying abroad at Hong Kong University. My friends and i have decided to travel to Beijing for about four days without a tour package. I have never been to Beijing but would definitely like to see the Forbidden City, Tianman Square, Great wall, Terracotta Soldiers, and such. My only concern is that we will not have a guide or a personal bus to take us to those desired locations in Beijing. To my knowledge, these locations are also quite far from each other and are spread throughout Beijing. I want to know if it is difficult or even realistic to get to these places? Also are there hotel services that drive guests around the cities for a fix rate? Considering a time span of only 4 days and a group of 6 people traveling to Beijing, any information and tips would be most appreciated. Thanks!

you can absolutely take bus to get to most of these sites to save a lot of money. You can also take taxis. However, Terracotta Soldiers are in Xi’an, 12 hrs of train ride from Beijing.
Hotels would be very happy to introduce u some dependable travel agents and help u set up an itinerary(they get paid by travel agents). I would check in a >3 star hotel and ask them to make the plan for me.
the best way for free accommodation in your travel???
besides, i recommend u a new way of traveling~~~
i think home exchange is the best way, save money, try original life and make friends! Here is a site I strongly recommend where i have wonderful exchange experiences, enjoy it!
the hotel can introduce you cheap travel guides and you can visit great wall, tianmen square, forbidden city, world park, summer palace, jade facotry , shoalin kugfu and a few more places in four days.
wish you have a good trip
We were there for a few days and took 2 tours thru them. They were wonderful! The guides speak english, the bus was clean and air conditioned, the price was inexpensive. You can also do a 3 hr bike tour thru. Our guide was funny and knew alot about the city. Ask for Leo. I think the bike tour was the best thing we did during our stay. Experiance Beijing like a Beijinger, on the bike dodgeing traffic, pedestrians, other bikes, cars, busses, etc… So much fun…my kids would have not approved. But like they say, what happens there stays there. Check out The Red Rose Restaurant for ethnic Uhigur BBQ and belly dancing. ENJOY!
