Hi! I will be going to Beijing this June and need some help to know for sure how much money I will need there per month. I am going there with my 3-year-old kid and I will need a babysitter for him for 3-5 hours a day, and then plus a good full time kindergarten. I will be staying in a hotel for a month (they charge me 160 RMB per night but advices on something better are most welcome). And of course I wanted to know how much does a meal in a restaurant cost (I mean average).

calculate about 300 yuan per day…
no idea about babysitters and kindergartens but the meal would cost about 100 per day (3 x 30)…
and some other expenses like transportation, home necessities etc…

If you have a room booked $1000 is about right. However if you goto high-end fashion malls you could easily spend that in a single trip. Chinese people on the other hand earn like on average in Beijing like 150 dollars.
¥5000 should see you fine, with enough to spare
